Square Meal 2007: Noura Belgravia
The sleek, back-lit interior looks as pristine as the food in this smart, stylish Lebanese restaurant & cafe, though the place itself has been satisfying customers for the past seven years. The style of cooking is typical - start the meal by nibbling on radishes, lettuces & olives, move on to an array of hot & cold mezze followed by simple grills. All the usual suspects are on offer - hoummos, tabbouleh, moutabbal - though there's much more besides and, if you allow them, the staff will be more than happy to widen your mezze horizons. There's samke harra (a spicy ratatouille-like fish stew) & lahm bi ajine (lamb & pine kernel pizzas), even habre nayah (lamb tartare with garlic puree) for the more adventurous. It's dewdrop fresh, full of flavour & feels amazingly healthy. The wine list appeals to its main core of customers with a large section of French & Lebanese wines - try the elegant, minerally Ksara Chardonnay.
